The Roots

A high school dropout taught me everything I needed to know about pressure.

Before I was in any boardroom, and before I ever put on a uniform, my world was shaped by one person: my mom. She was a high school dropout and certified caretaker — but honestly? She was the most determined person I've ever known.

We didn't have much growing up. Not even close. But she was obsessed with making sure her kids had a better shot than she did. I spent my childhood watching her just… outwork the world.

Belief isn't a feeling. It's a requirement if you want to change your circumstances.

I was a dreamer back then. I knew there was a bigger life out there — but when you're coming from where I came from, those dreams feel distant. I just didn't have the map to get there yet.

Precision & Pressure

Six years in the Army taught me what "good enough" really costs.

That search for a "map" eventually led me to the Army. I spent six years as a helicopter mechanic — on paper, a technical job. But in reality? It was a masterclass in pressure.

The Stuck Phenomenon

In healthcare, I watched brilliant people stay invisible.

When I transitioned into the corporate world, I thought it would be a straight shot to the top. Just work hard, stay disciplined, and the ladder would be there, right?

But then I started noticing something that really bothered me. I was surrounded by truly talented, hungry, smart professionals who showed up every single day and gave it their all. And they were stuck.

They weren't stuck because they weren't capable. They were stuck because nobody had ever pulled them aside and told them how the game is actuallyplayed.

Then I made it into the rooms. And I saw the hidden set of rules.

Eventually, I made it. I climbed into those executive rooms. I was part of the leadership team at a healthcare tech company that we eventually sold for $750 million. And standing in those rooms, I saw the truth.

It's not just about talent. It's about exposure, positioning, and how decisions get made when you're not in the room.

Millions will spend their entire lives grinding, never understanding the mechanics of why they aren't moving forward. Once I saw that gap, I couldn't go back to business as usual.
